When an Upgrade Makes Sense
Adding a big load
An EV charger, air conditioner, heat pump, hot tub or basement suite can push an older service past its limit.
Breakers keep tripping
Frequent trips, warm breakers or flickering lights can mean the panel is overloaded or worn.
Older or problem panels
Fuse panels and some older breaker panels are worth replacing, and insurers or buyers sometimes ask for it.
Renovating anyway
If the walls are open for a renovation, it's the cheapest time to bring the panel up to date, and you only pay for the work once.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need a panel or service upgrade?
If you're adding a large load like an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub, or your breakers trip often, it's worth checking. We do a load calculation and tell you honestly whether you need an upgrade or just a new circuit.
How long will the power be off?
A service upgrade means the utility has to disconnect and reconnect your power. We schedule the shutdown with you and the utility, and tell you in advance how long to expect.
How much does a panel upgrade cost?
It depends on the size of the service, the condition of the meter base and mast, and how many circuits move to the new panel. After a site visit we give you a written quote.
Not Sure Your Panel Can Handle It?
We'll give you a straight answer, even when the answer is that you don't need an upgrade.
